How many flowers do I need?
| Piece | Approx. stems |
|---|---|
| Bridal bouquet | 20 – 30 |
| Bridesmaid bouquet | 12 – 20 |
| Boutonniere | 2 |
| Pin-on or wrist corsage | 3 – 4 |

Conditioning your flowers
- Clean buckets — wash them well so bacteria don't shorten vase life.
- Re-cut every stem at an angle with sharp pruners, about 1–2 cm off the bottom.
- Strip the leaves below the water line so they don't rot.
- Add flower food to cool, fresh water and let flowers drink for several hours before arranging.
- Keep them cool, out of sun and away from ripening fruit, which makes flowers fade faster.
Supplies checklist
- Buckets, plus boxes or crates for transporting arrangements
- Sharp pruners, scissors and a thorn stripper for roses
- Flower food, floral tape and floral wire
- Floral foam or chicken wire for structured arrangements
- Ribbon and pearl-head pins for bouquets and boutonnieres
- Watertight vases with heavy bases so they won't tip
DIY like a florist
Do a practice run: Order a few stems a month or two ahead and make one centrepiece and one bouquet. You'll learn how long it takes and how many stems you really need.
Put one person in charge: Choose a reliable flower lead and line up helpers early — volunteers often get pulled away on the day.
Set up a workspace: A cool, weatherproof room with tables, buckets and plenty of space to spread out makes the job much easier.
Go seasonal: In-season flowers cost less, last longer and are easier to source in quantity.

DIY wedding flower FAQ
How far ahead do I need to order bulk flowers?
Please pre-order with at least two weeks' notice. That lets us bring in exactly the flowers and colours you want, and pre-orders save up to 50%.
When should I pick up my flowers?
Usually 2–3 days before the wedding. Roses and many blooms need a day or two to hydrate and open. Arrange your pickup time when you order.
Can I mix DIY with professional flowers?
Yes, and it's a great balance. Many couples let us design the bridal bouquet and boutonnieres, then DIY the centrepieces with bulk flowers.
Do you sell greenery too?
Yes — our wholesale bulk orders include greenery as well as premium farm-direct flowers, both local and imported.
