Ilex Red
Red ilex (Ilex verticillata), also called winterberry, is a deciduous holly with bare branches covered in glossy scarlet berries. Because there are no leaves, it arguably has a much greater visual impact than evergreen holly because the berries are not hidden by leaves. Florists also love it as beautiful berries without the prickles! The tall stems add height and bold colour to Christmas and winter arrangements, wreaths, garlands and entryway urns. Vase life is 5 to 14 days, and the berries also hold up well out of water.
